The first images of Elijah Wood in horror remake Maniac have arrived online, and from the looks of things, the former hobbit isn’t pulling any punches.

Wood plays the unhinged owner of a mannequin store, who uses the internet to stalk women before tracking them down and killing them. As if that wasn’t cuddly enough, many of the murders are reportedly set to be filmed through the eyes of the killer, which should place audiences uncomfortably close to the grisly action.

Decked out in jeans and a bomber jacket, Wood is pictured laying into one of his luckless targets, played by Genevieve Alexandra. Its certainly a far cry from Middle Earth, although it looks as though Elijah has remembered a few tricks from his time on Green Street.

The remake is being directed by Franck Khalfoun from a script by Piranha 3D’s Alexandre Aja. The project is currently filming in Los Angeles ahead of a 2013 release date.

George Miller’s long-awaited sequel to the 2006 sleeper hit animation Happy Feet has reportedly been hit with delays.

According to a tweet picked up by Moviehole, the film’s production company Funny Az Hell Animation are struggling with the workload and need more staff to complete the project.

“Happy Feet 2 experiencing delays, need to outsource”, managing director Stuart Cunningham tweeted. “If you can take a load, contact Dr. D.”

It was reported in January last year that both Matt Damon and Brad Pitt had been tapped to provide two small voice parts in the film.

Happy Feet 2 is the second project from director George Miller to experience delays recently, after production on his Mad Max film starring British actor Tom Hardy was pushed back until 2012.

Happy Feet 2 is still currently scheduled for release on November 18.

LONDON (Hollywood Reporter) – Elijah Wood is joining the cast of “Treasure Island,” Britain’s Sky 1′s adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s buccaneering pirate classic that will broadcast on Sky at Christmas.

Wood – best known to British audiences as Frodo from “Lord of The Rings” will play Ben Gunn – is joining a cast that includes Eddie Izzard, Philip Glenister and Rupert Penry-Jones who are already filming in Ireland and Puerto Rico.

Glenister plays Captain Smollet, Penry-Jones takes on the role of Squire Trelawney and Daniel Mays is Dr Livesey – who are all on board The Hispaniola alongside Gunn. Izzard plays Long John Silver.

Earlier this week, it was announced that Wood will reprise his Frodo role in Peter Jackson’s “Lord of the Rings” prequel, “The Hobbit.”
